Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, music was always a part of my day-to-day life, my family was that family that gave each other personal concerts as birthday gifts. Fast forward to now, I married in 2015 to my husband, Trumane and we now have 2 beautiful children, Harper and Kaiden. Music is still a very present part of my family's day-to-day life, where we are now that family that gives each other personal concerts any given day.

My most memorable musical experiences growing up were singing in the church choir, grade school chorus, and on Saturday mornings waking up and listening to some of the greats; Heatwave, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, and Patti LaBelle while cleaning the house. My greatest musical influences include my oldest sister, my high school choir experience and observing the choir director’s passion. My undergrad college experience at Shaw University, where I minored in Vocal Performance and gained experience as the featured vocalist with the jazz band. After college, I traveled the country and did background vocals, and eventually worked with praise teams and choirs to improve their vocal quality.

I’ve experienced the beauty of amazing singers who are accompanied by musicians with an ear to shift according to the atmosphere, it’s life-changing and infectious. It’s something everyone should experience. Music can literally heal the hearts and minds of people which can physically heal their bodies and offer peace during a time of turmoil.

Music is essential, it’s a part of our design. The Bible describes how God surrounds himself in music and in singing (Revelations 15:1-3) and that He, himself rejoices over us with singing (Zephaniah 3:17). As beautiful and as essential as music can be, we all know it can also be a great distraction. Having the proper tools and singing with intention will determine the experience for the singer as well as the audience.

Throughout my musical career, I’ve learned the difference between great singers that have excellent tonality, harmony, breath control, and blend versus singers who have great potential, can simply be the need for a vocal coach. Someone with musical knowledge, patience, creativity, teaching ability, and the time to invest in the improvement of a singer’s overall sound.

Music is ministry. Singing gives direction to music through lyrics/sound. My goal is to improve vocal quality individually and corporately, to introduce or remind of the importance of intentional ministry.
